HOW YOUR BENEFITS ARE CALCULATED
Different benefits apply to former Gas Scheme members. Please click here for more information.
Your benefits are based on a formula that takes account of the Scheme accrual rate, your contributing service and your pensionable salary.
The formula is 1/80th of your pensionable salary for each year of pensionable service, plus lump sum of three times your annual pension.
For example:
If you retire at normal pension age with 20 years of service and a salary of £22,000:
Pension: 1/80 x 20 years x £22,000 = £5,500 per annum
Lump sum: £5,500 x 3 = £16,500
Men with a normal pension age of 60, who choose to retire between 60 and 63 will have the part of their benefit which related to pensionable service before 17 May 1990 reduced for early payment.
